Our verdict
We picked up the Profitec GO in late 2024 from Whole Latte Love for $1,299 as our compact, small kitchen-friendly espresso machine. Daily routine: just 1–2 double shots (4 shots typical, 6 max on weekends), and we almost never touch the steam wand—no milk drinks, no extra stress on the boiler. That’s genuinely light usage for any prosumer machine, maybe 1,200–1,600 shots total over 14 months. Out of the gate, the Profitec GO impresses. Heat-up is legitimately quick (under 8 minutes most days), PID temperature control keeps shots consistent within a degree, and the classic Profitec look—brushed stainless, heavy chrome portafilter, and those satisfying toggle switches—makes morning coffee feel special. The 58 mm group with the included IMS competition basket means you’re using real barista tools, not compromised parts. Pull a medium roast and you get sweet, balanced espresso with minimal fuss. Unfortunately, at the 14-month mark a very slow drip appeared underneath after shots—a few drops each time. It’s a pinhole leak at a boiler fitting, which is disappointing on a $1,300 German machine that’s seen baby-level use and zero steaming. We’re still in the warranty window, but Whole Latte Love’s support has been frustratingly slow: three weeks of repeated requests and no firm resolution yet. Overall, the Profitec GO remains one of the most attractive and capable single-boiler options under $1,500, especially for small households who just want great straight espresso without the bulk of a dual-boiler setup. It’s not quite the bulletproof heirloom piece some hoped for at this price, but for light-duty users who love the aesthetics and performance, it still delivers excellent shots day after day. Final Verdict: 7.8/10 If you’re a 1–2 drinks-a-day household, prioritize looks and shot quality, and mostly drink straight espresso, the Profitec GO is still a strong contender. Just temper expectations on long-term durability and consider buying from a retailer with a stronger service track record. We’ll keep using ours (leak is minor for now), but next upgrade will likely jump to a dual-boiler for peace of mind.
